Zelda Twilight Princess: What are the lanterns in Kakariko Village?

I’m kinda stuck in Kakariko Village and there are 2 creepy lanterns in the village that follow you when you get too close? What are these and why aren’t I able to play the shooting mini-game with Talo in order to get the hawkeye? Thanks for your help!

      Those are called poes. If you turn into wolf link and use your senses, you can see these little ghostlike creatures. Kill them to get a poe’s soul, which will be useful later on.

      You can only get the hawkeye once you have beaten Goron Mines.
