What is the device that looks like a lantern that I just saw a police dog sniff out of the bushes?

I just watched a bunch of policemen and a drug dog go into some bushes and find a couple of these silver lantern like devices that were about a foot in height and were heavy looking. I’m assuming these had some type of drug in them, but I just had never seen this thing before. Anyone have any idea as to what exactly it was?

      The drugs without seeing picture theres no way of telling what it was.
