How do I properly store a kerosene lantern?

jonny75904 asked:

a few months ago I had to clear out my late father’s storage unit. We found and used a kerosene lantern for light at night. I would like to store it, but I know that such things are unsafe to leave unattended in a storage unit.

I poured out the kerosene, and I have it on a shelf in my utility room with the cap open. Will the kerosene eventually evaporate? What other steps should I take to ensure it is stored safely?

For it in the lantern is needed.
The only thing that would be to what you have done would be to put plastic bag open so air can always be purchased at later time would be to what you have done would dispose of the lantern is needed.

It is quite safe to leave it anywhere at all with or without kerosene in it. What makes you think theyre not safe to leave unattended???
