I’ve heard that I can use molasses, diluted in water. Any other ideas?

Use baking soda, and water. Then take a toothbrush and start scrubbing for a great shine!

since it is rusted, then it is made of tin, or light steel. not brass, cuz brass don’t rust. can use a wire brush, or rust remover. try rust remover first.
